Mountain biking routes in North Yorkshire and Guisborough

All the mountain biking routes here have been marked out by myself and will guide you around some of the best north yorkshire trails that are local to Guisborough. There is a mass of excellent sections of singletrack, technical descents and steep shale dotted around Guisborough Woods which are difficult to mark out on a map. Therefore, if you want some variety and you like to explore then just head down any tracks that you see while following the routes that are given here - you might find yourself riding one of the local favourites.

Care has been taken to provide maps that do not include public footpaths. Please respect walkers while riding and do not litter our trails.

Hope you enjoy the routes. Happy Trail Blasting.

Map 1 - Into Darkness

The first map is suitable for intermediate riders and will take around 90 - 120 mins over approximately 11 miles. The maps name comes from the inclusion of the Black Hole in the early stages of the ride which is a nice shale bank into dark woodland which ends with a narrow bridge crossing. Nice trails and nice views.

Map 3 - Great Ayton Downhill & Red Run

I've had a number of people asking how to get to the very start of the Great Ayton Downhill Course. It is actually a difficult one to find without any clues so here is a route that starts from the Visitors Centre as usual and takes a fairly direct route to Captain Cooks and then the downhill run. The route diverts to Red Run but you can obviously ride more of the downhill course before heading back that way.
