Distance: approx 10 miles Time: 90 - 120 minutes Difficulty: Intermediate Start Elevation:325ft Max Elevation: 1017ft Map 2 Notes: 1. You can park at the visitors centre in Pinchinthorpe. Start by following the main track into the woods. The route will follow the main fire roads up until point 2.... 2. You should have been on the main fireroad up to point 2. At point 2 is a crossroads. Turn right up the rocky trail and make you way to point 3.... 3. At point 3 is a gate that leads onto the moors. Turn left into the woods and bare right. This is known as the Secret Path. You will start by crossing a small bridge and the the trail will start to get very rooty. Just keep on going (pretty much parrallel with the edge of the trees). The trail will then bare left downhill and back onto the fireroad. Turn right when you hit the fireroad and just keep on going, you will pass through an open area where you will see some small drops if you want a play. Keep on going until you see Highcliff nab. Simply go up the big hill right to the top and follow the fireroad to point 5. 5. The path splits in 2 near point 5. There is an uphill on the right and a very muddy downhill straight on. Head downhill but bare left immediately and off the rock drop. Follow the trail back onto the fireroad and turn left. Stay on the fireroad and make your way back to the foot of Highcliff nab. 6. Start heading up the hill towards Highcliff and then turn right through the grass where the wall starts. The trail that runs alongside the edge of the woods is the Black track. The trail will start to twist and turn a little when you enter the woods. There will be a sharp right turn into a dip and then a sharp right again over some routes. The trail will split in 2 here, bare left over the humps. Turn right when you meet the next trail and then left into the trees where the tree has a green spray mark on it. Follow the narrow soft trail through the trees to point 7. 7. Look to your left and you will see a steep shale bank. Ride it, return the fireroad and turn left. Do you recognise where you are? Head back to the unsuitables at point 8. 8. Turn left up the rocky trail that you rode up before. Not far up is a right hand turn which runs alongside the woods. Not long after you start to climb is a small trail off to the right and into the trees. Follow the descent back to the fireroad and turn left. You are now biking back towards where you started. You will come to a point where the fireroad splits in 2. To the right is the hill that you will have previously biked up. Go straight on and upwards towards point 9. 9. Turn right into the trees. Just after the start of this trail is a small wall on the left. Follow the winding narrow track and turn right when you get to the end. Now head back into the woods and take the 2nd left (the one which isn't a footpath). Take this trail fast but watch out for the two tree stumps. You will come out onto a fireroad where you can turn left and head home or turn right and do it all again. 10.
